Guiding Staff Principles

Positive Community Interaction
  • As a staff member, you will be expected to interact with the community positively and frequently.
Equal Justice
  • As a staff member, you will be expected to resolve situations fairly and without bias.
Reasonable Activity
  • As a staff member, you will be expected to maintain a reasonable amount of activity on the discord, forums, and DarkRP server.
Preserve Roleplay
  • As a staff member, you will be expected to protect legitimate, rule-abiding roleplay, and end harmful, illegitimate roleplay.
Specific Responsibilities (as determined by the current Staff Manager, Quirky Larry)

Server Administration By Staff

The staff team will be both proactive and reactive, allowing for present conflicts to be resolved while taking preventative steps to avoid conflicts later. Trial-Moderators and Moderators will handle the majority of reactive moderation by handling the cases that are called after a rule-breaking incident has occurred. This will give new staff experience in dealing with a variety of issues and the ability to notice what patterns can cause issues.

Once a staff member reaches the rank of Senior-Moderator, they will mostly handle proactive moderation. Proactive moderation will involve a staff member cloaking or spectating players in hopes of catching a player in the act of breaking community rules and guidelines before an issues occurs or as it happens. The staff member can choose to punish or warn them for breaking that rule/those rules as they see fit. Administrating the server in both these ways should ensure that sits are kept at a minimum and players that are breaking community rules and guidelines are corrected before it becomes a larger issue.

  • Perks:
    • TBD (more so for the benefit of future staff managers, if it comes to that)
Community Manager
  • Description/Summary - The Community Manager has a role distinct from other staff. Though they are permitted to moderate the server with the same authority as other managers, they do not have explicit authority over the staff team. Instead, the Community Manager is responsible for strengthening the union of the community and assisting the Founder in the maintenance of the forums and discord.
  • Perks:
    • TBD (again, more so for the benefit of future community managers, if it comes to that)

Staff Advancement
Staff will progress through the ranks as seen fit by the recommendation of higher-ranked staff and the ultimate decision of the Staff Manager. Qualifications to advance include the amount of time the staff member moderates the server, how well the member interacts with the community, and how proficient the staff member is at resolving roleplay issues.

Though most staff will progress through the ranks in a linear fashion, the Staff Manager may allow a staff member to “skip” one or more ranks if they deem them suitable for the position. In that situation, the Staff Manager will be responsible for approaching the staff member, not vice versa.
